Staff CAD Design and Integration Engineer
Design

About ALSO.
We’re ALSO, an electric mobility company originally conceived as a part of Rivian. We’re a passionate team of builders, dreamers, doers and innovators, focused on creating entirely new (not to mention, innovative and delightful) vertically integrated, small EVs designed to meet the global mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. Our mission is to inspire everyone to ride ALSO—replacing many local car, truck and SUV miles with ones on vehicles that are more affordable, more enjoyable and 10-50x more efficient.
ALSO is looking for a Staff CAD Design and Integration Engineer to design manufacturable parts and own CAD integration across our vehicle/product platforms.
What You'll Do
Own CAD data architecture and integration across a large product program — model hierarchy, configuration management, PDM/PLM workflows, release processes
Enterprise grade CAD and PLM skill necessary to manage large and complex vehicle assemblies in CAD, BOM and structure the data to support concurrent CAD development contributions from many design engineers
Design parts and subassemblies end-to-end, from concept through DFM review to production release
Apply broad DFM knowledge across manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, injection molding, casting, etc.) to guide design decisions up front, not just review them after the fact
Own tolerance stack-ups, GD&T, and fit/function analysis for complex assemblies
Drive design reviews and design-for-manufacturability sign-off with manufacturing, supply chain, and quality
Prototype, test, and iterate on designs to validate fit, function, and durability before production release
Set and enforce CAD standards, naming conventions, and best practices across design teams
Debug and resolve CAD integration issues (assembly conflicts, referencing errors, cross-tool data loss) at scale
Mentor engineers on both manufacturing-aware design practices and CAD tooling
What You'll Bring
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
8+ years in mechanical design engineering, with direct ownership of parts that shipped to production
Deep, hands-on CATIA V5 or V6 proficiency — expert-level, not admin-level
Broad, practical DFM experience across multiple manufacturing processes
Experience managing CAD data/PLM at product scale (large assemblies, multiple contributors, complex BOMs)
Strong GD&T and tolerance stack-up skills
Track record of being the technical bridge between design intent and manufacturability
Experience with PLM systems (Teamcenter, Windchill, 3DEXPERIENCE, or similar) — nice to have
Scripting/automation experience for CAD workflows — nice to have
The salary for this position ranges from $200,000 - $221,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
