oin us at a pivotal moment in our journey. As one of the first engineering hires, you’ll play a critical role in shaping the digital experience of our connected e-bike product. This is a greenfield opportunity in a fast-paced, venture-backed startup environment where you’ll make key architectural decisions, own critical user experiences, and work closely with a small, highly motivated team. We’re building a premium customer experience—from purchase to ride—and you’ll be central to that mission. You’ll have the autonomy to design elegant, scalable systems and the support to grow alongside a rapidly evolving company.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable integrations across our Shopify-based e-commerce, logistics, and account systems, ensuring a seamless user experience.

• Architect APIs and backend services that connect our mobile app, third-party platforms, and internal tools.

• Contribute to our user account systems, including supporting features like account transfers and multi-product ownership.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, data, and operations teams to bring a seamless multi-platform experience to life.

• Work effectively with an external agency responsible for the marketing site.

• Ship high-quality, maintainable code and continuously improve engineering practices through documentation, code reviews, and refactoring.

• Contribute to growing our engineering culture by introducing best practices and fostering a mindset of continuous learning and improvement.

What you bring

Required

• Strong technical judgment with the ability to architect systems from scratch in a greenfield environment.

• Demonstrated success in a 0→1 setting, ideally in a startup or highly autonomous role.

• Hands-on experience building backend systems using Golang and/or Python, especially within an AWS ecosystem.

• Deep experience in e-commerce environments, particularly with subscriptions and Shopify (including Liquid templating).

• Track record of building and maintaining scalable, developer-friendly APIs.

• Experience working effectively with third-party agencies and cross-functional internal stakeholders.

• Solid understanding of data engineering principles and integration pipelines.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; able to build trust and drive alignment across technical and non-technical teams.

• Independent, self-motivated, and comfortable operating without a playbook.

Bonus:

• Frontend development experience (React, modern UI frameworks).

• Exposure to hardware-integrated systems, IoT, or embedded devices.

• Experience building user identity and authentication systems.

The salary for this position ranges from $200,000 - $250,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
