About ALSO.
We’re ALSO, an electric mobility company originally conceived as a part of Rivian. We’re a passionate team of builders, dreamers, doers and innovators, focused on creating entirely new (not to mention, innovative and delightful) vertically integrated, small EVs designed to meet the global mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. Our mission is to inspire everyone to ride ALSO—replacing many local car, truck and SUV miles with ones on vehicles that are more affordable, more enjoyable and 10-50x more efficient.
As the first software engineer covering serviceability, you’ll be responsible for building and supporting diagnostic, provisioning, and service tools that ensure ALSO vehicles can be serviced quickly and reliably—from factory floors to field service centers. Your work will directly impact product uptime, repair quality, and the customer experience. You'll work at the intersection of firmware, backend, UI, and hardware systems in a dynamic, early-stage environment.
What You'll Do
Build intuitive, high-reliability tooling used by manufacturing and service technicians to diagnose and repair ALSO vehicles
Collaborate with the firmware team to integrate vehicle-side diagnostics, firmware flashing, and update capabilities
Support certificate provisioning and secure production image flashing at key manufacturing milestones
Design and implement databases, web portals, and dashboards for component tracking, issue logging, and service operations as necessary
Develop internal UIs that are usable by non-engineers, including factory and field service teams
Work across functions—firmware, supply chain, backend, and product—to ensure tools evolve with the hardware lifecycle
What You'll Bring
Proficiency in a modern object-oriented language (e.g. Python, C#)
Experience working with vehicles, embedded systems, sensors, or other hardware-connected products
Familiarity with firmware-level development and debugging, including C / FreeRTOS (ability to read or modify embedded code a plus)
Experience supporting manufacturing or service center operations, including provisioning, diagnostics, or rework processes
Ability to design simple, functional UIs tailored to technician use
Bonus: Experience with data engineering, telemetry, or logging systems
Bonus: Experience provisioning secure keys/certificates and working with production security infrastructure
