About ALSO.
We’re ALSO, an electric mobility company originally conceived as a part of Rivian. We’re a passionate team of builders, dreamers, doers and innovators, focused on creating entirely new (not to mention, innovative and delightful) vertically integrated, small EVs designed to meet the global mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. Our mission is to inspire everyone to ride ALSO—replacing many local car, truck and SUV miles with ones on vehicles that are more affordable, more enjoyable and 10-50x more efficient.
We’re looking for a Lead CMF Designer to define the look and feel of our vehicles through trend-driven palettes, rich materials, and surfaces that express our brand in motion.
What You’ll Do
Work closely with creative, design, and engineering leadership to translate the ALSO brand into relevant foundation and seasonal CMF palettes.
Prepare, document and track paint samples, films, textiles, graphic applications, lab-dips, lighting conditions and more to maintain excellence throughout the design and production process; communicating with both internal and external partners along the way.
Have an effortless grasp of cultural, fashion, tech and mobility trends; collect and distill insights into concise mood boards, sample kits and render comps for team review.
Collect, organize, distill and curate samples and inspiration from as many sources as possible with the intent of building a diverse and inspiring library for ALSO. This library should act as a critical reference point for in-flight projects and to help propel the brand into the future.
-
Confidently present CMF decisions in cross-functional settings with the aid of stunning visuals, compelling palettes and insightful trend forecasts; crafting a coherent story that brings stakeholders along.
What You’ll Bring
8+ years professional CMF, color design or related experience in fashion, lifestyle goods, consumer electronics, or mobility.
Portfolio that demonstrates a sharp eye for hue, texture and pattern – and shows you can shepherd a color chip from concept to production line.
Familiarity with Pantone/NCS systems, paint & coatings processes, soft-goods manufacturing and emerging sustainable materials.
Proficiency in Adobe CC, KeyShot (or equivalent) and hands-on prototyping tools; comfortable juggling multiple SKUs and deadlines.
Ability to work cross-functionally and iteratively—balancing creative vision with feedback from design, engineering, and manufacturing.
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Textile/Surface Design or similar (or equivalent practical experience).
The salary for this position ranges from $190,000 - $215,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
Why ALSO.
We’re passionate about helping the world find a better way to get there—wherever it is you’re headed.
We’re located in the heart of Silicon Valley and have brought together a world-class team from some of the biggest brands in the technology, automotive, cycling, outdoor recreation and retail spaces.
Together we’re working hands-on to imagine, design and build an entirely new solution to a global set of transportation challenges.
