About ALSO.

We’re ALSO, an electric mobility company originally conceived as a part of Rivian. We’re a passionate team of builders, dreamers, doers and innovators, focused on creating entirely new (not to mention, innovative and delightful) vertically integrated, small EVs designed to meet the global mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. Our mission is to inspire everyone to ride ALSO—replacing many local car, truck and SUV miles with ones on vehicles that are more affordable, more enjoyable and 10-50x more efficient.

ALSO is looking for a Battery Technician to build the future of electric mobility. You will play a critical role in prototyping, building, and testing next-generation battery systems, from the cell level up to full pack integration

What You Will Do

Harnessing & Electrical Assembly

  • Fabricate complex wire harnesses from schematics and wiring diagrams.

  • Perform precision wire cutting, stripping, and crimping using industry-standard tools (e.g., Molex, TE, Amphenol).

  • Route and secure cabling within battery packs to ensure thermal and vibration safety.

  • Troubleshoot open/short circuits and continuity issues in prototype harnesses.

PCB & BMS Integration

  • Perform soldering and rework on Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), including through-hole and surface mount components (0402 size and up).

  • Interface with the Battery Management System (BMS) for firmware flashing and validation.

  • Assist in the installation of PCBs into mechanical housings, ensuring proper grounding and thermal interfacing.

Cell & Module Handling

  • Handle lithium-ion cells (cylindrical, pouch, or prismatic) following strict safety protocols.

  • Operate spot welding or laser welding equipment for cell interconnects.

  • Apply Thermal Interface Materials (TIMs), epoxies, and structural adhesives during module assembly.

Testing & Validation

  • Set up and operate battery cyclers (e.g., NHR, Chroma) and environmental chambers.

  • Monitor and assist the inhouse testing work - Battery cycling, mechanical and thermal battery testing etc.

  • Perform incoming quality control (IQC) on cells and electrical components.

What You Will Bring

  • Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in electro-mechanical assembly, preferably in the EV, aerospace, or consumer electronics sectors.

  • Harnessing: Expert knowledge of crimping tools, connector assembly, and reading electrical schematics/pinout diagrams.

  • Soldering: Proficient in soldering for rework and assembly (IPC-610/J-STD-001 certification is a plus).

  • Instrumentation: Proficiency with digital multimeters (DMMs), oscilloscopes, and power supplies.

  • Safety: Strong understanding of Low Voltage (LV) safety standards (NFPA 70E) and lithium-ion handling procedures.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience operating laser welders/Spot welders.

  • Forklift certification or experience moving heavy pallets.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $45.00/hr - $60.00/hr , depending on experience and qualifications.

Why ALSO.

We’re passionate about helping the world find a better way to get there—wherever it is you’re headed.

We’re located in the heart of Silicon Valley and have brought together a world-class team from some of the biggest brands in the technology, automotive, cycling, outdoor recreation and retail spaces.

Together we’re working hands-on to imagine, design and build an entirely new solution to a global set of transportation challenges.
