Join the team bringing advanced autonomy to the built world
At Bedrock, we’re moving AI out of the lab and into the real world. Our team is composed of industry veterans who helped launch Waymo, scaled Segment to a $3.2B acquisition, and grew Uber Freight to $5B in revenue. Today, we’re deploying autonomous systems on heavy construction machinery across the country, accelerating project schedules of billion-dollar infrastructure projects and improving safety on job sites. Backed by $350M in funding, we’re working quickly to close the gap between America's surging demand for housing, data centers, manufacturing hubs, and the construction industry's growing labor shortage.
This is where algorithms meet steel-toed boots. You’ll collaborate with construction veterans and world-class engineers to solve physical-world problems that simulations can’t touch. If you're ready to apply cutting-edge technology to solve meaningful problems alongside a talented team—we'd love to have you join us.
The Fleet Operations Regional Manager — Central Region is a senior field leadership role responsible for the performance, reliability, and operational excellence of Bedrock Robotics' deployed robot fleet across a multi-state territory centered in Dallas, TX. You will build, lead, and develop a geographically distributed team of Fleet Technicians, drive key reliability metrics (Uptime, MTTR, MTBF), and serve as the primary operational owner between Bedrock and its Central Region Partner customers.
This role demands a rare combination of hands-on technical depth in electromechanical systems and proven people-leadership experience managing field technicians across multiple locations. You thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments, hold your team to a high standard, and are passionate about keeping complex machines running in the field.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
Directly manage a distributed team of Fleet Technicians (typically 8–15 technicians) across the Central Region, spanning 10+ states.
Recruit, onboard, and develop technician talent; conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development conversations.
Build and maintain technician scheduling, on-call rotations, and deployment coverage to ensure regional fleet SLA commitments are met.
Foster a high-accountability team culture grounded in safety, operational rigor, and continuous improvement.
Identify training gaps and coordinate with the Training team to upskill technicians on new robot platforms, tools, and procedures.
Fleet Operations & Reliability
Own regional fleet Uptime, MTTR, MTBF, and first-time-fix-rate metrics; report performance to Head of Data & Fleet Operations on a weekly cadence.
Serve as the regional escalation point for complex or unresolved field issues; deploy personally or dispatch senior technicians as needed.
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring failures and partner with Engineering to drive systemic fixes into future builds.
Manage the regional parts inventory and tooling supply chain, ensuring technicians have what they need to resolve issues within SLA windows.
Lead regional response to fleet-wide safety events or field stops, coordinating with Safety, Engineering, and Customer Success teams.
Maintain strict compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing field service operations (DOT, OSHA, site-specific HSE).
Customer & Stakeholder Management
Serve as the senior Bedrock field representative for customer relationships across the Central Region; attend QBRs and site reviews as needed.
Proactively communicate fleet status, planned maintenance windows, and incident updates to Customer Success and directly to managers.
Ensure regional operations meet contractual SLAs and customer uptime commitments; escalate risks to Head of DFO ahead of breaches.
Collaborate with Account Management and Sales on expansion planning when customers deploy additional robots in the region.
Be prepared to go into the field to support your technicians and our Partners at any time.
Process, Compliance & Reporting
Ensure all field activity repairs, PMs, inspections, parts usage is accurately documented in the Fleet Management System (FMS) within required timeframes.
Implement and enforce standardized maintenance procedures (SOPs) across the region; flag deviations and drive corrective action.
Manage the regional operations budget (T&E, parts, tools, contractor labor); flag variances and identify cost reduction opportunities.
Contribute to the development of new playbooks, escalation paths, and operational standards as the fleet scales nationally.
Provide regional field intelligence to Product and Engineering surfacing patterns, customer feedback, and environment-specific challenges.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in field service, fleet operations, or technical field management — with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role overseeing field technicians.
Demonstrated ability to manage geographically distributed teams across multiple states or regions.
Hands-on technical background in electromechanical systems, robotics, industrial automation, or a closely related field (e.g., aerospace, heavy equipment, EV/autonomous vehicles).
Proven track record owning and improving reliability KPIs such as fleet uptime, MTTR, MTBF, or first-time fix rate.
Strong analytical skills comfortable reading data from fleet monitoring systems, building summary reports, and making data-driven operational decisions.
Excellent communication skills: able to communicate technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders and represent Bedrock professionally with enterprise customers.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% across the Central Region, including overnight and multi-day trips.
Valid US driver's license with a clean driving record; able to operate a commercial service vehicle if required.
Proficiency with field service management software (e.g., Fleetio, SAP, Salesforce Field Service, IFS, or comparable FMS & ERP platforms).
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in IT, Business, Management, Engineering, Robotics or equivalent professional experience.
Experience in the robotics, autonomous systems, or advanced manufacturing industries.
Familiarity with ISO reliability standards or equivalent reliability engineering frameworks.
Experience managing technician teams that perform both preventive maintenance and complex corrective repairs on sophisticated electromechanical systems.
Six Sigma, Lean, or other formal process improvement certification.
Prior experience working within a venture-backed or high-growth technology company comfortable with evolving processes and limited structure.
Core Competencies
People Leadership
Builds high-performing distributed teams through clear expectations, coaching, and accountability.
Technical Credibility
Deep enough technical fluency to earn technician trust, accurately assess complex field issues, and engage meaningfully with Engineering.
Operational Rigor
Instills and enforces process discipline documentation, SOP adherence, and data quality without sacrificing responsiveness.
Customer Focus
Represents Bedrock as a trusted partner to enterprise customers; proactively manages expectations and resolves issues before they escalate.
Data-Driven Decision Making
Uses fleet data and reliability metrics to prioritize resources, surface trends, and drive continuous improvement.
Adaptability & Resilience
Thrives in a high-growth environment where processes, tools, and team size are rapidly evolving.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
This is a field-forward role. The Fleet Operations Regional Manager is expected to spend meaningful time on customer sites alongside their team not exclusively at a desk.
Regular travel within the Central Region (TX, OK, KS, MO, AR, LA, MS, TN, IA, NE, CO), with up to 50% overnight travel. Could travel to other states as needed.
Ability to work in outdoor environments, including exposure to noise, dust, sun, heat, rain, and varying weather conditions.
