ABOUT THE ROLE
Bright Machines is on a mission to transform how electronics are made—bringing intelligence, scalability, and flexibility to the factory floor. We combine the best of automation, machine learning, and software to modernize manufacturing from the ground up. We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join our team.
A Quality Engineer at Bright Machine supports production, engineering, and customer teams to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality automated server assembly systems. In this role, you will leverage data, process discipline, and technical expertise to improve product quality, reduce defects, and strengthen operational excellence across our manufacturing and deployment lifecycle. You will work cross-functionally to identify root causes, implement corrective action, and champion a culture of quality throughout the organization.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Lead quality assurance activities for automated server assembly cells, including inspections, audits, and validation of critical processes.
- Partner with Engineering to develop and maintain quality plans, test procedures, and acceptance criteria for new and existing automation systems.
- Conduct root-cause analysis (RCA) for defects, reliability issues, and field service escalations; drive effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitor production and field performance data; identify trends, prevent recurrence, and promote continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure component quality, resolve issues, and support incoming inspection requirements.
- Maintain documentation, including control plans, FMEAs, PFMEAs, process capability studies, and quality reports.
- Support customer quality requirements and interface with customer teams on audits, reporting, and problem resolution.
- Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, ensuring design-for-quality principles are applied early and effectively.
- Drive standardization and improvement of quality processes across Bright Machines’ manufacturing and service operations.
- Uphold Bright Machines’ commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
WHAT WE WANT TO SEE
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in quality engineering within manufacturing, automation, electronics, or hardware systems (server or electromechanical experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of quality systems, statistical methods, and problem-solving tools (8D, RCA, FMEA, SPC, DOE).
- Experience with automated equipment, robotics, or high-mix/low-volume assembly environments is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and communicate technical information clearly and effectively.
- Proficient with quality management systems, documentation control, and reporting tools.
- Lean/Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or above) is a plus.
