Instrumental technology is used by the world’s most admired electronics brands, such as NVIDIA, Cisco, and Meta, to accelerate new product development and improve production yields. Our technology leverages AI from data generated on the manufacturing floor to automate failure identification and resolution, improving yield, quality, and time to market. In the past few quarters, our technology has become mission-critical for the manufacture of AI servers. We’re rapidly growing our global presence to enable deeper integrations into our customers’ complex manufacturing environments.
As a Solutions Architect, you will work with Instrumental’s global go-to-market team to deliver technical solutions for various applications across leading electronics brands. This is a unique role that will leverage your hardware engineering background, technical curiosity, and interpersonal skills to directly influence how our customers build their products and help Instrumental scale at critical sites in Asia, with a focus on Taiwan and Vietnam. You'll gain expertise in AI applications in manufacturing while working closely with customers and our internal teams to implement high-impact solutions.
You will additionally be a key player in ensuring that our solutions not only meet immediate technical requirements but also align seamlessly with customer business goals. Our team doesn’t wait for things to happen; we make them happen. Successful team members are problem solvers and adaptable – when it’s not in the playbook, they create the next play. When there is no playbook, they start one. Most of our go-to-market team is comprised of experienced engineers who understand the time and manual effort required in manufacturing and have joined the business to increase their impact on our industry.
What you’ll do
  • Technical Validation: Work with sales to validate the technical scope of opportunities for new and existing customers, considering their business goals and current line constraints. You’ll develop a deep understanding of our partners’ production line structures, initiate corresponding standardized inspection frameworks tailored to different line configurations, enabling a unified, simplified, and easily adoptable product inspection process.
  • Station Requirements & Implementation: Scope Instrumental solutions, whether that’s leveraging our own station hardware, optics, and nests or collaborating closely with a third-party systems integrator to work Instrumental into complex automation equipment. The Solutions Architect must be comfortable reviewing automation architecture, assessing integration risk, and influencing mechanical and controls design prior to fabrication.
  • Oversee Implementation: Guide and mentor the project team through specification, design, development, and deployment to ensure customer requirements are met. This role may require up to 80% of time spent in factories in the Taoyuan/Hsinchu area and other domestic travels if needed, and as much as 20% international travel to support customers elsewhere.
  • Customer Communication: Throughout these projects, you’ll serve as a technical interface with customers and contract manufacturers, leveraging deep engineering expertise to explain design rationale, trade-off and constraints, while synthesizing stakeholder feedback to drive designs toward robust and manufacturable solutions.
Who you are
  • B.S. in engineering (required)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a product design, process, or manufacturing engineer
  • Industry-specific experience in one or more of: consumer electronics, AI infrastructure, automotive, or another highly related field (you can make your case).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, information systems, change management, system implementation, and best practices during development, new product introduction (NPI), and mass production
  • Experience working with systems integrators on automation projects
  • A desire to be customer-facing, with a customer-success mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to be successful in a startup environment or as an intrapreneur in a larger organization
  • Excellent written and spoken Mandarin and English communication skills
We’re a growing team that consistently works collaboratively, supports each other, and is highly energized by the opportunity for large impact. We actively work to promote an inclusive environment, valuing passion and the ability to learn. You’re encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn’t precisely match the job description!
