About Us

Reframe Systems is on a mission to build resilient, energy efficient housing at a massive scale, by re-imagining how housing is designed and built. Our volumetric modular platform and highly automated production system will drive down cost, delivery time, and embodied carbon for single and multifamily housing. Our first robotics-enabled microfactory is in Andover, MA and we have a roadmap to scale our presence nationally. This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Reframe’s product development and aesthetic direction as we work to manufacture beautiful, high performance housing for all.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented Project Architect to join our architectural design team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing volumetric modular projects from conception through to completion, with support and collaboration from your fellow architects, Platform, Process Engineering, DFMA and site delivery teams. This includes working on a project's full lifecycle, from the initial design phase to its final installation on site. You'll be responsible for coordinating with various project consultants, including but not limited to Structural, Civil, Energy, FP, and MEP.

The ideal candidate is proactive, collaborative and tech-forward. This role requires a strong command of relevant codes and Revit expertise. We are looking for someone with 7-10 years of architectural experience across the entire project life cycle, preferably focused on residential and low-rise multi-family buildings in the US.

This position is full-time, salaried, and exempt.

This position is in person, on site at our Andover, MA factory.

What We Value

  • Tech-Forward Mentality: You are excited to embrace and help implement new technologies and tools. We work primarily in Revit, and are actively designing our workflows from Revit concept to factory floor reality.

  • Strong Collaboration Skills: You work effectively and communicate clearly with a diverse group of internal and external teams, including consultants, DFMA, Design Engineering, and on-site crews.

  • Learning Mindset: With a passion for continuous learning, you are willing to adapt to new methods and challenges in a rapidly evolving industry.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Work on and manage active volumetric modular projects from beginning to end, ensuring all project goals are met.

  • Consultant Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for external consultants, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineers, managing their contributions and integrating their designs into the overall project.

  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate closely with our internal teams to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturing, and with our site delivery teams to ensure seamless installation and button up.

  • Design and Documentation: Oversee the creation of detailed designs, architectural drawings, plans, sections, and elevations, ensuring all documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with project standards and regulations.

  • Code Compliance: Maintain a current understanding of all relevant building codes and regulations to ensure project plans meet legal requirements. Experience with rating systems such as Passive House and/or LEED is a plus.

  • Permit Submission and Tracking: Track project deliverables to the relevant AHJ and modular review authorities.

  • Quality Assurance: Review and approve all architectural drawings and documents, making revisions as necessary to address design changes or discrepancies.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) degree is required. A Master of Architecture (MArch) is strongly preferred. Licensure or pathway to licensure in MA is a plus.

  • 7-10 years of experience in architectural design and execution.

  • Proven experience working on and managing architectural design projects from beginning to end.

  • Experience managing and coordinating external consultant work, including schedules and design detail coordination.

  • Strong understanding of architectural principles, building materials, and construction methods. Modular or factory-based construction experience is a bonus.

  • Expertise in architectural drafting and 3D modeling (Revit).

  • In-depth knowledge of residential and multi-family building codes and regulations.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
