About Us
Reframe Systems is on a mission to build fast, cost-efficient, and climate-resilient homes for everyone. Through our modular building platform and highly automated production process, we reduce costs, shorten delivery times, and lower embodied carbon for housing projects of all sizes—from single-family homes to large multifamily developments. Our first software-driven factory in the greater Boston area (Andover, MA) is just the beginning of our national expansion. Backed by leading venture capital firms in the industrial and construction sectors, we are transforming how homes are built.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to scale our microfactory product and the current microfactory systems. The ideal candidate has been "in the trenches" of a factory launch. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the technical delivery of our production systems. This role bridges the gap between initial concept (0 to 1) and standardized scale (1 to N). You will own high-impact projects that directly increase throughput and reduce labor costs. This is a role for an engineer who anticipates business needs before they become blockers and has a proven track record of delivering hardware and software-integrated solutions in complex environments.
Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end delivery of key manufacturing initiatives, moving from project identification and scoping through to hardware commissioning and stabilization.
Identify and eliminate production bottlenecks by conducting technical studies and first-principles analysis of factory performance.
Optimize material and assembly flow across the microfactory to minimize "touches," reduce cycle times, and drive down total hours-per-home.
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders—including Automation, Software, Product Design, and Operations—to ensure new housing designs are optimized for automated production.
Drive the integration of software-driven workcells, collaborating with internal teams to deploy sensors, MES capabilities, and real-time performance dashboards.
Manage external vendors, integrators, and contractors to deliver large-scale capital projects on schedule and within budget.
Develop and execute roadmaps for scaling factory metrics, ensuring the "1 to N" expansion is supported by repeatable, data-driven processes.
Construct quantitative models of workcell performance to benchmark Reframe’s processes against industry standards and justify technical investments.
Proactively anticipate future business needs, proposing technical solutions to capacity constraints before they impact the production schedule.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related technical field).
Proven experience in "0 to 1" and "1 to N" environments, having successfully launched or scaled production lines from the ground up.
Demonstrated ability to deliver complex technical projects involving hardware, automation, or integrated software systems.
Deep understanding of manufacturing flow, including line balancing, throughput calculations, and bottleneck analysis (Theory of Constraints).
Strong cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to influence design decisions and technical roadmaps across multiple engineering disciplines.
Data-driven decision-making skills, with experience collecting and analyzing factory floor data to drive engineering changes.
Hands-on experience in a production or industrial setting; you are comfortable in the trenches alongside the production team.
Nice to Have
Experience in industrialized construction, modular housing, or large-scale assembly (aerospace/automotive).
Experience implementing robotic workcells or large-scale gantry systems.
Familiarity with factory design and facility construction for high-growth startups.
