VulcanForms Inc. seeks an HSSE Specialist for our Newburyport, MA location.
Job Purpose
The Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Specialist opportunity at VulcanForms Inc., Newburyport, MA, offers a significant challenge for the right individual. You will work with HSSE to develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines. Travel to our facility in Devens is a must.
Key Accountabilities
- Works with Director of HSSE to develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
- Leads by example to establish an industry-leading culture of health and safety.
- Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence policies and regulations.
- Ensure everyone in the company complies with company HSSE policies and government regulations.
- Develop and assist in implementation of work instructions and SOPs for employee usage.
- Provides input into a Continuous Improvement Plan for safety and the work environment
- Keeps abreast of industry standards, regulations, best practices, and laws applicable to safety and the work environment.
- Collaborates with all employees at all levels to determine safety needs.
- Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
- Monitor compliance to policies and regulations by inspecting employees and operations.
- Investigate incidents to discover causes and handle worker’s compensation claims.
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities, or new prevention measures.
- Champion of VulcanForms Near Miss Program
- Provide in-house training for PIV’s (fork truck, scissor lift, boom lift)
- Create and Preform audits as needed.
- Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics.
Qualifications
- 3+ years proven experience in industry setting with majority of job related to HSSE responsibilities.
- Proven experience as a successful HSSE practitioner.
- Ability to work off shifts for training and observations.
- Ability to travel between facilities as needed.
- Ability to provide training to individuals or groups
- Must have experience combustible dusts and associated OSHA and NFPA regulations
- Strong understanding of legal health and safety guidelines.
- Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies.
- Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.
- Excellent organizational and motivational skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- General knowledge of waste streams and recovery systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Laser experience to be Laser Safety Officer
- Experience with PIV (fork truck, scissor lift, boom lift)
