VulcanForms Inc. seeks a Manager, Material Flow for our Newburyport, MA location.

Job Purpose

The Manager of Material Flow ensures that raw materials, in-process parts, and finished goods move efficiently and accurately through our facility. This role will lead the warehouse team, improve day-to-day operations, and ensure materials are where they need to be to meet production goals. The work of the Material Flow Manager keeps things running on time, reduces waste, and helps us deliver high-quality results on time to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Improve on-time delivery (OTD) by increasing material availability, reducing shortages and ensuring parts get where they need to be – one time and without delays.
  • Own end-to-end material movement – from receiving to storage, internal transfers to machines, and outbound shipping –driving efficiency, accuracy and responsiveness across the shop floor.
  • Reduce material-related downtime by identifying top causes of delays and implementing systems and process changes to eliminate them.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customer and supplier portals, ensuring timely communication, documentation, and fulfillment across all logistics channels.
  • Lead, train and support a high-performing material flow team, setting clear expectations, developing skills, and ensuring safe, efficient day-to-day operations.
  • Schedule and manage inbound and outbound transportation, ensuring materials and products move on time and cost-effectively between vendors, shop floor and customers.
  • Establish and maintain robust inventory controls and processes to ensure inventory is accurately tracked, financially accounted for, and optimized to meet production demands without overstock or stockouts.
  • Ensure all certifications and associated documentation are maintained and traceable with the corresponding inventory, aligning with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the implementation of inventory tracking in Epicor ERP, including serial number traceability, while standardizing material movement processes across the organization.
  • Drive continuous improvement across all logistics workflows – from shipping and receiving to internal material movement and documentation – using lean tools to simplify and streamline processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, industrial engineering, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years managing warehouse or material flow teams in a manufacturing environment, with proven employee management experience
  • Strong knowledge of material handling, inventory control and warehouse operations
  • Proven experience operating in ERP systems (Epicor preferred), including inventory tracking and serial numbering
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate teams in a fast-paced setting
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to collaborate cross-functionally and resolve material flow challenges across all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and provide constructive feedback to team members
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methods
  • Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Experience in a regulated industry such as aerospace, defense or medical device strongly preferred
