Job Purpose
As an Electro-Optical Technician at you will have the unique opportunity to work on industrial-scale metal additive manufacturing (AM) machines. The main objective of this role will be to build and test laser and optical systems for the world's most productive and advanced metal Additive Manufacturing (AM) systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble complex opto-mechanical systems and integrate their sensing, monitoring, and actuation subsystems
- Commission and assemble fiber laser delivery systems and perform fiber splicing and coupling.
- Assisting our photonics teams' daily operations, including setting up the cleanroom, developing the necessary safety and work procedures, developing assembly methods, maintaining order and inventory.
- Operate and work around high power laser systems.
- Handle, Clean, Assemble and Align macro lens cell assembles.
- Utilize ERP, MES and QMS software programs in a real-time manufacturing setting.
- Participate in and provide first-hand feedback on optical system design and integration.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of optics experience or equivalent relevant education/experience; or certification program of comparable scope
- Experience with precision opto-mechanical assemblies, component inspection, and electronic or electro-mechanical assemblies
- Precision alignment of opto-mechanical assemblies for high power laser applications
- Handling and cleaning high power laser optics
- Experience with troubleshooting electronic circuits
- Experienced with optical and or electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power meters, spectrum analyzers)
- Experience with MES and ERP systems
- Hands-on experience with fiber optics coupling and fiber terminating techniques (cleaving, splicing)
Preferred
- Experience with setting up and conducting optical, electrical, temperature, and data logging tests
- Experience with Epicor
- Experience using QMS
VulcanForms offers a competitive salary and equity package. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, VulcanForms provides comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; generous paid time off; and a 401(k) plan with company match. The hourly range for this position is $30 to $40 per hour depending on experience level.
