Position Description:

Watchmaker is inviting applications for the full-time position of Warehouse Technician based In Cape Town, South Africa.

This position reports to the Logistics Manager and will be responsible for receiving incoming materials, inventory control, and shipping customer orders. This individual will be accountable for ensuring materials are processed quickly and help manage inventory levels and Kanbans.

Responsibilities

Driving & Logistics

• Daily transport of materials between sites and suppliers as required
• Maintain delivery records
• Ensure safe handling and transport of sensitive/temperature-controlled goods

Material Receipt & Inspection

• Receive and verify incoming goods against purchase orders and delivery documentation
• Inspect for damage, discrepancies, and temperature compliance
• Maintain cold chain integrity on receipt and quarantine non-conforming materials

Storage & Inventory Control

• Store materials under required conditions (ambient, 2–8°C, -20°C, -80°C)
• Ensure correct labelling, status control, and traceability
• Apply FIFO/FEFO principles and assist routine stock counts

Cold Chain Management

• Handle and transport temperature-sensitive materials per procedures
• Prepare compliant cold chain shipments (e.g., insulated packaging, dry ice)
• Monitor and record temperature data; escalate deviations

Material Handling, Kitting & Distribution

• Pick, stage, and issue materials to Production, QC, and R&D
• Ensure materials are released, in-date, and correctly documented
• Maintain accurate system transactions and movement records
• Support dispatch and shipment preparation, including labeling and documentation
• Support shipping of orders in a timely manner, according to ship dates.
• Perform kitting functions and respective documentation

Compliance & Documentation

• Follow SOPs and complete all documentation accurately
• Maintain full traceability of materials
• Report deviations, incidents, and non-conformances

Health & Safety

• Adhere to all safety procedures and PPE requirements

Skills and Requirements

The ideal candidate should have a Grade 12 certificate and a valid code 08. The candidate should preferably have 4 years’ experience in a similar role, handling cold chain and sensitive material.

The following skills and experience are requirements for the position:

• Previous experience obtained in a Pharmaceutical or FMCG environment or similar role
• Licensed driver (valid and unendorsed licence)
• Ability to work well with multiple and competing deadlines.
• Sound judgment and excellent problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail
• Flexibility to work irregular hours, including occasional weekends, when required
• Basic written and verbal communication skills
• Practical experience with computer software

Education and Experience:

• Matric
• A valid code 08 driver’s licence
• + 4 years’ experience in a similar role within a Pharmaceutical or Biotech environment or similar role
