Robotics will have a massive positive impact on the world economy and global human productivity over the coming decade. At Foxglove, we're excited for this future, and we're building powerful open source and commercial tools to accelerate it.

We're an experienced team of independent thinkers, with a passion for creating high quality products. We're looking for self-motivated and fast-learning individuals to join our mission.

About the role

We’re looking for a technically skilled Solutions Engineer with a deep understanding of robotics to help customers integrate Foxglove seamlessly into their diverse production environments. Our robotics customers span a wide range of stacks, frameworks, and hardware setups, so fluency in robotics concepts, tooling, and workflows is critical to quickly understanding their unique constraints. In this role, you will work directly with engineering teams to assess system architectures, design integration workflows, and troubleshoot complex challenges during evaluations and onboarding. You will be hands-on with robotics frameworks and Foxglove’s internal tooling to ensure smooth interoperability and high performance at scale. Your insights will directly influence product improvements and help shape the technical direction of our platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical solution design: Collaborate with customer engineering teams to understand their robotics stack and design integration workflows tailored to their architecture and requirements.

  • Demonstrations and evaluations: Build and deliver technical demos and proof-of-concepts that reflect real robotics workflows, highlighting how Foxglove fits into existing systems.

  • Onboarding and integration: Guide customers from initial setup through successful deployment, ensuring seamless communication between their robotics systems and Foxglove.

  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues during trials and early deployments, working closely with both the customer and internal engineering teams.

  • Product feedback: Provide structured feedback and feature requests to Foxglove’s product team based on direct technical engagement with customer systems.

  • Collaboration with sales: Serve as the technical partner during the pre-sales process, helping translate customer needs into clear technical solutions.

Location

We’re a small global company with team members primarily in the U.S. and Australia. We maintain Pacific Time hours and hire within ±4 hours of U.S. time zones to ensure effective collaboration.

For this role, we ideally looking for someone to work onsite from our office in San Francisco, since there will be significant robot hardware interactions and local customer visits.

What we're looking for

  • 8+ years in robotics engineering, including hands-on experience with frameworks such as ROS or similar middleware.

  • 3+ years of experience in a technical customer-facing role such as solutions engineering or sales engineering.

  • Professional experience in Python and C++, with the ability to quickly understand and work within diverse codebases.

  • Familiarity with real-time data streaming, messaging systems, and robotics visualization tools.

  • Strong systems-thinking skills, with the ability to assess complex architectures and design effective integration approaches.

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, small-team environments.

  • Willingness to travel locally, domestically, and possibly internationally

Bonus points

  • Experience with real‑time telemetry, lakehouse formats (Iceberg/Delta), or GPU orchestration (k8s + NVIDIA)

  • Contributions to robotics or ML open‑source projects

What we offer

  • Competitive equity grant in a Series A company

  • Medical insurance coverage at 90% for employees and 75% for dependents (for US full-time employees only)

  • 401k matching (US full time employees only)

  • 4 weeks vacation, plus holidays and winter break

  • All expenses paid company off-sites 2x/year

Compensation Range: $180K - $230K
